11″ x 14″, acrylic on gesso board, 5/2014, © Steve Miller 2014

This untitled abstract painting was an exercise in using liquid frisket (masking fluid) to create two distinct layers in the picture plane. Sanding, wet on wet as well as drybrush techniques were also played with to create an environment that has the depth of a landscape yet remains abstract. It makes me think of air and water.

I gifted this painting to my wife’s cousin and her husband as a wedding present, to symbolize two people coming together.
